Volunteer Fire Departments

Safety and compliance training built for Arkansas volunteer fire departments.

Arkansas Safety Training develops practical programs for volunteer departments that need life-safety skills, occupational-safety training, and better documentation without sending volunteers long distances for routine classes.

Core Programs

A practical VFD training package.

CPR / AED

Hands-on emergency skills and applicable HSI certification for department members.

Life-Threatening Bleeding

Tourniquet use, wound packing, direct pressure, and severe-bleeding response.

Hazard Communication

Arkansas VFD-focused HazCom training tied to station chemicals, SDS access, labels, protective measures, and local procedures.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Exposure prevention, protective measures, exposure-control procedures, and post-exposure response.

Implementation Support

Training is only one part of compliance.

When included in the project scope, the Foundation can help a department identify the written-program, chemical-list, SDS, labeling, training-record and exposure-control documents that should be maintained locally. The department remains responsible for its own compliance and implementation.

Regional Pilot Area

Pulaski and Saline County departments first.

The Foundation’s initial regional emphasis is volunteer departments in Pulaski and Saline Counties, with expansion to other Arkansas departments as funding and instructor capacity allow.

Common Questions

Planning a class.

Can you come to our fire station?

Yes. The program is designed around mobile delivery at suitable fire-station or partner training locations.

Can you help with HazCom documents as well as the class?

When included in the agreed project scope, implementation support can address written-program readiness, chemical lists, SDS organization, labeling practices, training records and related documentation. The department remains responsible for compliance.

Can grant funding cover department training?

Some Foundation projects are designed to use grants or sponsorships to reduce or eliminate costs for participating departments when funding is available. Availability depends on the specific grant and program period.
